How Can You Help a Friend?

Educate yourself about myths and facts of violent crimes;

Don’t judge your friend’s decisions;

Tell them they did not cause and do not deserve the abuse;

Be aware that violent behavior escalates in frequency and severity;

Understand that getting out takes time;

Tell them that assault in an intimate relationship is against the law;

Encourage them to confide in a trusted adult if you believe the situation is getting worse;

Encourage them to call the 24 -hour Crisis Line (208) 556-0500 or accompany them to one of our two office locations

An advocate is a friend who can walk with you through the healing journey, lending strength, offering support and finding resources along the way.
